The Ministry for Tourism will soon send a group of media persons and columnists to Sikkim and other North Eastern States to explore and showcase the tourism potential of these States.
The Minister for Tourism and Culture Dr. Mahesh Sharma announced this at a press conference after inaugurating the 4th International Tourism Mart for the North Eastern States in Gangtok today.
He assured that he will take up the issue of strengthening of the National Highways and easing of norms for issuance of permits to visiting tourists in the NE region with the Transport and Home Ministers.
Replying to queries from the newspersons, Dr. Sharma informed that the Centre has created an exclusive North East Circuit and introduced a Swadesh Darshan for promoting tourism in the region.
He said that organizing the International Tourism Mart for North East every year by rotation is another step in this direction. The Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was also present on the occasion.
They reports that delegates from 27 countries, 7 North East states and the neighbouring West Bengal are participating in the the 4th International Tourism Mart for the North Eastern States.
