DMK alleges illegal additions in poll roll
Alleging that illegal additions and deletions were made in the electoral roll in the State, the DMK has urged the Election Commission to conduct a CBI probe into the issue.
In a representation submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer, DMK organising secretary R.S. Bharathi alleged that a third party agency was attempting to include ineligible and bogus voters and delete the names of known DMK sympathisers.
Claiming that some District Election Officers were being forced to accept such inclusions and deletions, he said illegal additions and deletions with an intention to rig elections amount to cheating the public and the CBI should investigate the issue.
As we have listed out the corrupt practices of the DEOs, it is your duty to give proper information by way of lodging appropriate complaint to the CBI to conduct investigation. Failure on your part to do so will also make you liable for being prosecuted under the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, he said. Noting that there was a sudden spurt in the inclusion of voters after the last general elections to the Lok Sabha, he alleged that it appeared to be a manipulation of the voters list by the ruling political party in Tamil Nadu.
